About ESSA

Founded in 1991 Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA), formerly known as the Australian Association for Exercise and Sports Science (AAESS), is a professional organisation which is committed to establishing, promoting and defending the career paths of tertiary trained exercise and sports science practitioners.

ESSA accredited professionals are degree qualified exercise professionals and can be recognised under the following accreditation types:
– Accredited Exercise Scientists (AES) – use exercise to improve health, well-being and fitness
– Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) – use exercise to help manage chronic conditions, disability and injuries
– Accredited Sports Scientists (ASpS) – use exercise to improve sporting performance
– Accredited High Performance Managers (AHPM) – manage a range of performance services for elite sport

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. An hour of continuing professional development counts as one CPD point. Therefore a 10 hour online CPD course would give the student 10 CPD points. CPD points may also be known as CECs (continuing education credits), CEUs (continuing education units) or PDPs (Professional Development Points).

Currently, you are required to complete 20 CPD points every year to maintain your ESSA accreditation. This is regardless of whether you are an AES, AEP or ASpS. 15 of these CPD points must come from Further Education.

The most common way to get ESSA CPD points is by completing an approved ESSA CPD course, however there are many other options including and not limited to industry conferences, business professional development and industry professional development.

Become a master at using kettlebells for full-body muscle stretching and workouts. Kettlebell exercises help burn fat, build strength and tone core and arm muscles. Learn how you can devise a workout program that will be effective for your clients’ individual needs.

Learners gain an understanding of anatomy and biomechanics, allowing them to assess and address mobility limitations in clients. The course covers effective mobility exercises, warm-up and cool-down routines, and injury prevention strategies.

By mastering these essentials, exercise professionals can improve client performance, create customized mobility programs, and ensure safe, effective training sessions that promote overall movement quality and long-term physical health.

As someone new to the fitness industry I know I can rely on FEO to provide a huge array of CPD courses that cover a wide range of subjects. I’ve completed a few courses to date including Technique Essentials, Suspension Training, Resistance Band Training and many more covering women’s health. I find the courses to be a wonderful source of valuable knowledge that broadens my skills as a PT. I’m looking forward to completing many more courses through FEO in the future.
The last course I completed was the Resistance Band course. I found it to be an absolute pool of exercises to be put to good use. There was a lot of exercises shown that I never knew of and even partner exercises which would be great for bootcamp. The exercises are also placed into categories which is great if I need a refresher.
I highly recommend any PT out there to have a look through the many courses that FEO has to offer as there are many to choose from.

Just completed FEO GLB1 course, Programming Essentials 1, Technical Essentials 1&2. I found these courses very informative, delivered in a simple to understand manner underpinned by current and contemporary information delivered expert instructors.
I have finished many FEO courses and found them value for money and ease of learning.
At 67 years young and being in the fitness industry for over 30 years updating and maintaining skills is essential. You can never stop learning. I would encourage PT's to engage in additional study to stay current in information.

I recently completed the Level 1 and Level 2 Kettlebell Essentials for Fitness Professionals courses, and I'm so glad I found Fitness Education Online and signed up. I own a functional strength and conditioning training business, and I've been using kettlebells on my own and with clients for years -- without fully understanding what I didn't know and therefore shouldn't coach! The courses gave me a thorough knowledge of kettlebell technique, crucial coaching points, and excellent programming tips -- I've already used some of the programming hacks in mixing up group workouts for clients. It was easy to navigate the course materials and learn at my own pace, and it was all to the point and didn't waste my time. The course instructors were professional and impressively available for questions and exam feedback. I'd recommend FEO to anyone who not only needs some CEUs but wants to expand and deepen their fitness quiver.
